HyFlex combines in-person, live online and, where provided, recorded learning options. The room needs to support clear speech, visible teaching content and two-way discussion.
We design microphone coverage, camera views and simple controls around your teaching style. Existing equipment is assessed for reuse, with consistent controls and support arrangements planned across campus.

Small classroom / seminar
For tutorials, small-group discussion and remote guest speakers. Prioritise clear speech around the table, a shared content display and a simple laptop connection. A video bar or compact camera system can suit the space, subject to coverage.
MEDIUM
Teaching and training room
For classes that alternate between presentations, demonstrations and student questions. Separate teacher and audience views, ceiling microphones and suitable content displays help remote students follow the discussion. Add a document camera where close-up detail matters.
LARGE
Lecture room / theatre
For lectures, panel discussions and larger teaching groups. Plan presenter audio, audience questions, camera sightlines and readable content across the room. Automated camera switching, recording and streaming are optional additions.

Agree on room layouts, equipment reuse, conferencing platform, control workflow and optional features. Develop a scoped proposal and staged upgrade options.

Install and commission
Coordinate access around teaching, install and program the system, tune audio and test camera views, content sharing and calls with a remote participant.

Train and support

Lecture recording and streaming
Dedicated capture systems can record lessons for later viewing and stream live sessions. Plan scheduling and integration with platforms such as Panopto, Kaltura or YuJa.
Voice reinforcement in the room
A teacher microphone and classroom amplification can distribute speech to local students, while an integrated audio feed also supports remote listeners and recordings.
Connect room AV to a computer
An HDMI-to-USB bridge can bring professional cameras and room audio into PC conferencing applications. Select the interface around the installed sources and teaching workflow.
Automation and flexible distribution
Room controls can coordinate displays, lighting and shades. Matrix switching or AV over IP can route teaching sources to different destinations as learning spaces expand.

HyFlex classroom FAQs.
What does HyFlex mean?
HyFlex is short for Hybrid-Flexible. It describes a learning model where students may have choices around physical, live remote or asynchronous participation.
What affects the cost of a HyFlex classroom?
Room size, acoustics, microphone coverage, camera views, displays, cabling and existing equipment all affect the scope. Dedicated room computing, recording, automation, software licences and support can add to the budget. An assessment helps separate essential requirements from optional upgrades.
How much disruption will installation cause?
The programme depends on access, cabling, mounting, electrical work and commissioning. We agree on access requirements and discuss delivery around teaching schedules or available shutdown periods. The proposal should identify expected room downtime.
Will teachers receive training?
Training and a classroom quick-start guide can be included in the agreed scope. Sessions should cover starting a class, sharing content, selecting camera views, microphone controls and getting help. Consistent controls make it easier for staff to move between rooms.
What is needed for Microsoft Teams or Zoom?
Choose a dedicated room system or a teacher laptop connected to compatible room AV. We confirm device compatibility, account and licensing requirements, network access and content-sharing needs with your IT team before specifying the system.
Can existing classrooms be upgraded?
Often, yes. We assess the condition and compatibility of existing displays, projection, audio, cabling and network infrastructure. Suitable equipment can be retained, with upgrades staged around teaching priorities and budget.
What support is available after handover?
Discuss reactive assistance, planned maintenance and remote monitoring where the system supports it. Support hours, response targets, remote access and any recurring fees should be agreed in the proposal or service agreement.
What does a classroom assessment cover?
We review how the room is taught in, acoustic conditions, camera coverage, display sightlines, existing AV and network requirements. The findings inform equipment reuse, upgrade priorities and the scope needed for a proposal.
