St Gertrude’s Catholic School - PCIT Clinic
Masters Voice Technology delivered a purpose-built audio visual system for a school-based Parent-Child Interaction Therapy clinic, supporting live observation, discreet therapist communication, session recording and clinical review. The system was designed around the PCIT workflow, allowing therapists to observe parent-child interaction from a separate room and provide real-time coaching without interrupting the session. A PCIT clinic requires clear video observation, accurate speech capture, discreet therapist-to-parent communication and reliable recording for supervision or review. In a school environment, the technology also needs to be simple for staff to operate, reliable during sessions and installed neatly within existing rooms.

Supporting Observation, Communication and Coaching without Disrupting the Session
During a session, the parent and child interact in one room while the therapist observes from a separate space and provides discreet coaching to the parent. PCIT International describes this live coaching model as a key feature of the therapy, with the therapist observing the parent and child and providing real-time feedback through an earpiece.

Project Goals
The goal of this project was to create a purpose-built audio visual system that supported the way a school-based Parent-Child Interaction Therapy clinic operates.
The system needed to allow therapists to clearly observe parent and child interaction from a separate room, capture speech accurately through ceiling microphones, provide discreet real-time coaching to parents using in-ear monitoring, and record sessions for review, supervision and training where required. The overall aim was to deliver a reliable, easy-to-use AV solution that helped the clinical team focus on therapy outcomes rather than managing technology.

The System Work Flow
The system workflow was designed to connect the treatment room, observation room and recording environment into one simple process. Cameras and ceiling microphones capture the parent and child interaction inside the treatment room, allowing clinicians to observe and listen from a separate space without interrupting the session. The therapist can then provide discreet real-time coaching to the parent through an in-ear monitoring system, while session audio and video can be recorded for supervision review and training. This workflow supports clear observation, natural interaction and reliable clinical review while keeping the technology simple for school and therapy staff to operate.

The Solution
The audio visual system was designed around the PCIT therapy workflow, connecting the treatment room, observation room and recording environment into one practical system.
This allowed clinicians to observe, hear, communicate and review sessions clearly while keeping the technology simple for school and clinical staff to operate.
