8 user changeable modular areas
The TOUGHBOOK 40 adopts a modular design, featuring eight user-replaceable option areas including the battery, memory, storage, keyboard and four additional expansion areas.
The expansion areas feature several different types of expansion packs including Blu-Ray or DVD optical drives, authentication readers, additional inputs/outputs, long life batteries and secure storage. All of the modular options provide up to 6,048 possible combinations to choose from.

As our toughest TOUGHBOOK ever, it’s also built to withstand drops of up to 180cm as well as knocks, vibrations and extreme temperatures for ultimate reliability in any environment.
Communications that never stop
To ensure effective communications in the field, the Waves MaxxAudio® Stereo Speakers emphasises the human voice to ensure smooth conversations with up to 3x the accuracy in noisy environments. The new Quad array microphone with AI noise reduction also removes ambient noise from the microphone input.

Data and device security is paramount. TOUGHBOOK 40 is a certified Microsoft Secured-core PC and comes equipped with an Intel® Core™ vPro® processor and NVMe OPAL SSD drives. For those needing even more data security, optional quick release NATO approved VIASAT self-encrypting secure drives are also available.
